Sakura Miyawaki (宮脇 咲良, Miyawaki Sakura, born 19 March 1998 in Kagoshima Prefecture) is a member of the Japanese idol girl groups HKT48 and AKB48. She is vice captain of HKT48's Team KIV and a member of AKB48's Team A.

Career

2011

Miyawaki joined HKT48 as their first generation Kenkyūsei (Trainee) in July 2011. She made her first official appearance as an HKT48 member along with the other first generation trainees on October 23 at a Flying Get national handshake event. Her theater debut was on November 26 with a revival of Team S stage "Te wo Tsunaginagara".

2012

Miyawaki was officially promoted from a research student[jargon] to a member of Team H on March 4 along with 15 other girls.[citation needed]

At the 2012 AKB48 General Election, Miyawaki became the first and only HKT48 member to be ranked in an AKB48 General Election. She received 6,635 votes, placing her at the 47th position.[1]

She was then chosen to be in the Senbatsu[jargon] of AKB's 28th single, "Uza".

2013

She was chosen to be in the Senbatsu of AKB's 31st single, Sayonara Crawl.

In the 2013 AKB48 General Election, she was placed twenty-sixth overall with 25,760 votes.[2]

Miyawaki was also selected as a senbatsu member in HKT48's single, Suki! Suki! Skip![3] and Melon Juice.[4]

2014

On 11 January 2014, it was announced during the first day of HKT48's Kyushu 7 Prefecture Tour at Oita, that Miyawaki would be transferred to the newly formed Team KIV.[5] Later, at AKB48's Group Grand Reformation Festival, she was promoted to vice captain of Team KIV and given a concurrent position in AKB48's Team A.[6]

She was chosen to be in the Senbatsu of AKB's 36th single, Labrador Retriever.

In the 2014 AKB48 General Election, she was placed eleventh overall with 45,538 votes.[7]

At the annual AKB48 Janken Taikai (Rock, Paper, Scissors Tournament) it was announced that she would share the center position for AKB48's 38th single with Watanbe Mayu.

2015

At the beginning of the year, it was announced Miyawaki would play the lead role in the AKB48 drama "Majisuka Gakuen 4" along with Haruka Shimazaki. The season premiered on January 19.[8] She was in seventh place in the elections for the 41st single of AKB48, with 81,422 votes.[9]
