Salvatore Palella is an Italian-American business executive and entrepreneur. He founded Witamine, an orange juice vending machine company at the age of 18 that he sold at 24. He then founded Helbiz, a mobility ecosystem focused on green intra-urban transportation. As of 2013, Palella was the part of the new management that took over S.S.D. Acireale Calcio 1946 football club([1]), which is part of the Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio, in Italy [1].

Early life[edit]

Palella grew up in Sicily and moved to Dublin at the age of 17, getting his first work experience at the popular fast-food franchise McDonald's. He attended Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan, where he began his first company and decided to commit to his business instead of continuing his public education. The company was a vending machine business serving fresh squeezed orange juice called Witamine.[2] In 2013, he had distributed more than 50.000 machines between Europe and the Middle East employing over 1000 people. He sold the company after a couple of years and continued his career with many more unique ventures.

In the following years, Salvatore became the youngest owner of a professional soccer team in the world, Associazione Sportiva Dilettantistica Città di Acireale 1946. He was president of Acireale Calcio from 2012 until 2013.[3]

As of October 16, 2015, a carsharing platform, that allows users to rent out private vehicles controlled by blockchain technology, and ethereum smart contracts between users was founded, also known as Helbiz [4][5][6][7]. Palella was the founder and CEO of the ICO of Helbiz and his token Helbiz, raising 38 million dollars, and abandoned the project of the token for unknown reasons [8] The Helbiz cryptocurrency was listed on Coinmarketcap as of April 28th, 2018[9]. The Helbiz coin has the dubious honour of being one of the worst performing ICO offerings in the history of cryptocurrency, currently being at -99% of ICO price.[10]

Personal life[edit]

As of July 2018, Palella is engaged to model Samantha Hoopes.[11] [12]
