Sechelt Indian Government District is a municipality in the Sunshine Coast region of southwest British Columbia, Canada. It was incorporated on March 17, 1988.[1] The district consists of 33 separate pieces of land, of which 32 are located within the Sunshine Coast Regional District and the remaining piece located within the Powell River Regional District.[3]
Demographics
In the 2011 Census:[2]
- the Sunshine Coast portion of the Sechelt Indian Government District had a total population of 797 living in 354 of its 394 total dwellings, a -3.6% change from its 2006 population of 827. With a land area of 10.80 km2 (4.17 sq mi), it had a population density of 73.80/km2 (191.13/sq mi) in 2011.
- the Powell River portion of the Sechelt Indian Government District had a total population of 22 living in 11 of its 16 total dwellings, a 29.4% change from its 2006 population of 17. With a land area of 0.24 km2 (0.093 sq mi), it had a population density of 92/km2 (237/sq mi) in 2011.
- the entire Sechelt Indian Government District had a total population of 819 living in 365 of its 410 total dwellings, a -3.0% change from its 2006 population of 844. With a land area of 11.04 km2 (4.26 sq mi), it had a population density of 74.18/km2 (192.14/sq mi) in 2011.
