EDS (Ehler-Danlos Syndrome)[edit]

Shannon Rose[1] was born with a life-threatening syndrome known as EDS (Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome);[2] the illness has no cure. EDS is a connective tissue disorder involving collagen mutations.[3]

There are six versions of EDS. All of them are under-diagnosed, and an estimated 60-70% of the deadly Vascular EDS are undiagnosed entirely.

For Rose, he’s fortunate enough to not have the Vascular EDS conditions, but has not avoided the symptoms of this ailment. At the age of 12, both of Shannon’s arms became paralyzed and he lost the use of his voice for a year.

Through therapy, long hospital stays and the will to thrive, Rose managed to regain the use of his arms and voice.[4][5]

Pro wrestling[edit]

Rose’s career started at the age of 12 when he was granted a wish from Make-A-Wish Foundation to meet the WWE Icon Hulk Hogan. That introduction brought him in front of the legendary announcer Gordon Solie[6] and Pro Wrestling Legend “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes. Together they helped Shannon begin his career as a professional wrestling ring announcer; Rose made his first appearance as a Professional Ring Announcer at the age of 14.

Since his first appearance in the ring, Rose has managed to work with all the major wrestling corporations from ECW to NWA.

Rose has also come out of the announcing realm to manage professional wrestlers like Kevin Sullivan, The Mighty Hercules, and Fidel Sierra “The Cuban Assassin”.
