"Shelter" is a song by English indie pop band The xx. It is the seventh track on their début album, xx, and the only track from it that was written and performed without former member Baria Qureshi.
The songs lyrics were written by Romy Madley Croft, with the music written by her, Oliver Sim and Jamie Smith, with the song being produced by the latter.
The song has been covered multiple times by other artists, with notable covers coming from Birdy, whose cover was released on her début album Birdy,[1] and by Hercules and Love Affair, who included their cover of the song as a bonus track on the US edition of their second album Blue Songs. Sophie Habibis performed a cover in the style of the Birdy version on series 8 of The X Factor.

A cover of "Shelter" by English musician Birdy was released on 3 June 2011 as a digital download.[1] The song was chosen as "Record of The Week" by UK radio DJ Fearne Cotton. It has peaked at number 50 on the UK Singles Chart. Samples of the Birdy Cover have been Used on Sheffield DJ AdamDHoyle's song "Spectrum".

A music video to accompany the release of "Shelter" was first released onto YouTube on 16 June 2011; at a total length of three minutes and fifty-seven seconds.[2]
