Small Wonder Records was a UK independent record label owned and managed by Pete Stennett, that specialised in releasing records by punk rock and post-punk bands. It operated out of a record shop of the same name at 162 Hoe Street, Walthamstow, E17, east London. Important artists to have released on the label include Bauhaus, Crass, The Cure, The Cravats, Patrik Fitzgerald, Puncture, Cockney Rejects, The Carpettes, Poison Girls and Angelic Upstarts. The shop used a bag design that was a white Victorian family dressed in their finest clothes with a baby front and centre that was black which was the 'small wonder'. The shop/record label was name-checked with other independent labels in The Clash's song 'Hitsville UK' with the line 'when lightning hits SMALL WONDER, it's fast rough factory trade'. A indie rock covers band made from old customers formed in 2013 using 'The Small Wonders' as their name which received Pete Stennets approval via facebook conversation.
