Sound City is a documentary film directed by Dave Grohl about the history of Los Angeles recording studio Sound City Studios.[1]

Background

Dave Grohl recorded the album Nevermind with the band Nirvana at Sound City Studios. Grohl was inspired to create the documentary after he purchased several items from the studio including the mixing console, a rare analog model, upon the studio's closing in 2011.[1]

Release

The film is to be released at the Sundance Festival in February 2013, and to video-on-demand at the same time.[2]

Soundtrack

The soundtrack album, entitled Real To Reel, will feature the song "Cut Me Some Slack", written by Grohl, Paul McCartney, and former bandmates Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear.[5]
