SubtleTea is a Pittsburgh-based online journal that leans toward the written word. It includes artist interviews, poetry, prose, visual art, links and resources. Founded by editor David Herrle in 2002, the site has grown into an internationally popular online indie publication, with an audience and participants from California to South Africa, from New York to India, from Georgia to Ireland. Its tagline is "Pour In Spirit": a play on "poor in spirit" and the imagery of pouring tea.

After maintaining an old-school, basic appearance since its origin, the site rebooted with a new look in January 2013. The editor has promised more changes and expansion (including the possibility of a print version) down the road.

Open submissions from serious artists are welcome year-round. SubtleTea encourages the exposure of diverse creators, and a new edition goes online every four months.
