Sūgaku Joshi Gakuen (数学女子学園) is a Japanese television drama series.[1] It ran for 12 episodes. Most of the cast for the TV Drama are "Hello! Project" members, including the graduate members.

The song "Hatsukoi Cider" from Buono!'s single "Hatsukoi Cider / Deep Mind" was used as the closing theme for the TV series; the opening song is "Pyoco Pyoco Ultra" by Morning Musume.[2]

Synopsis[edit]

In the private school of Machida Special High School of Mathematics, a fight for the "No. 1 Mathematics Boss" breaks out between two high school girls, Nina and Sayuri. A male student by the name of Kazuki, who has zero interest in mathematics gets transferred to the school due to a mistake in the handling procedure.

    • Tanaka Reina (田中 れいな) of (Morning Musume) as Machida Nina (町田 ニーナ)
      A free spirited person. She is very innocent but very stubborn. She stands out as a Mathematics Genius. As she was born and raised in Fukuoka, she speaks in Hakata Dialect. She is in search of her lost sister who attended the school. Her tagline for winning battles is "Sine・Cosine・Mentaiko". She makes Kazuki her servant and makes him run errands for her.
    • Michishige Sayumi (道重 さゆみ) of (Morning Musume) as Tachikawa Sayuri (立川 さゆり)
      A excessive self-consciousness person. Initially a rival of Nina, but came to respect her because of her strength in mathematics after losing to her in a mathematical battle. She address Nina as "Nina-sama" and wants to be friends with her.
    • Sakurada Dori (桜田 どり) as Sato Kazuki (佐藤 一樹)
      He was transferred to the school by a mistake. A person who is very bad at mathematics and is unable to solve a middle school math problem. He is summoned around like a servant by Nina and Sayuri, but does not complain about it, with a slightly masochist personality. He falls in love at first sight easily, but it does not develop into love.
    • Yajima Maimi (矢島 舞美) of (℃-ute) as Shibuya Mami (渋谷 真実)
      A person with strong sense of justice. She is the leader of the Shibuya Keibitai. She constantly carries a handcuff named by Sayuri as "Mami's front handcuffs" to keep the school safe. She like mystery and detective novels and is very engrossed when reading it. After losing a mathematical battle to Nina, they are seen together battling others. She is a former Mathematical Battle Judge.
    • Suzuki Airi (鈴木 愛理) of (℃-ute & Buono!) as Uehara Yuri (上原 優梨)
      Known as the "Cute Angel" and classmate of Nina and Sayuri. Although she falls in love easily, her love for mathematics is stronger than any romance. She pays very close attention to Kazuki. She also battled Nina and lost. She became Nina's companion after which.

    • Niigaki Risa (新垣 里沙) of (Morning Musume) as Toriumi Nagisa (鳥海 渚)
      A teacher working for the school. Usually seen wearing a lab coat. She listens to Nina's troubles and gives advice. She also supports Nina in her quest to find her missing sister.
    • Sayashi Riho (鞘師 理保) of (Morning Musume) as Nagata Sana (永田 沙奈)
      She is the current mathematical judge. She appears when a mathematical battle breaks out and judges the battles fairly and in a cool manner.
    • Fukuda Kanon (福田 花音) of (S/mileage) as Yamashita Umi (山下 海)
      High school year 1 student. Admires and respects Nina.
    • Tamura Meimi (田村 芽実) of (S/mileage) as Okura Riku (小倉 陸)
      High school year 1 student. Admires and respects Nina.
    • Wada Ayaka (和田 綾香) of (S/mileage) as Tengenji Sora (天現寺 空)
      High school year 1 student. Admires and respects Nina.
    • Suzunosuke (鈴之助) as Muraki-Sensei (村木-先生)
      Form teacher of Class 2-A.
    • Saho Akari (佐保 明梨) of (Hello! Project) as Hatsudai Mina (初台 みな)
      Student of Class 2-A. She is the supporter of Yuri's love.

      Shibuya Keibitai member and maintains the order of the school.

      Leader of the Kuishin girls and a very big eater. She always wins in a food eating battle. A person seen as troublesome, but is actually very motherly. She is called "Okasan" by the other members of Kuishin girls.
    • Fukumura Mizuki (譜久 村聖) of (Morning Musume) as Akasaka Haru (赤坂 春)
      A member of Kuishin girls.
    • Ikuta Erina (生田 衣梨奈) of (Morning Musume) as Nakano Riko (中野 理子)
      A member of Kuishin girls.
    • Suzuki Kanon (鈴木 香音) of (Morning Musume) as Otsuka Mei (大塚 メイ)
      A member of Kuishin girls.

    • Kikkawa Yuu (吉川 友) of (Hello! Project) as Aoyama Iroha (青山 彩葉)
      Leader of the Judgement Squad (School Committee). She has a very serious and cool personality.
    • Shimizu Saki (清水 佐紀) of (Berryz Koubou) as Azabu Miku (麻布 未来)
      A member of the Judgement Squad (School Committee), serving under Aoyama.
    • Tokunaga Chinami (徳永 千奈美) of (Berryz Koubou) as Jinguu Takako (神宮 貴子)
      A member of the Judgement Squad (School Committee), serving under Aoyama.
  • Mysterious Transfer Student (謎の転校生)
    • Tsugunaga Momoko (嗣永 桃子) of (Berryz Koubou & Buono!) as Harajuku Tomoko (原宿 ともこ)
      A transfer student who prides herself as most cute and used it as a confrontation with Sayuri. She has won a battle against Sayuri in the past and calls it a splendid victory.

    • Takagi Sayuki (高木 紗友希) of (Juice=Juice) as Maihama Haru (舞浜 はる)
      High school year 1 student. She adores Nina and imitates Nina's appearance and mannerism.
    • Yoshihashi Kurumi (吉橋 くるみ) of (Hello! Project Kenshuusei) as Hakkeijima Natsu (八景島 なつ)
      High school year 1 student. She adores Nina and imitates Nina's appearance and mannerism.
    • Tanabe Nanami (田辺 奈菜美) of (Hello! Project Kenshuusei) as Daiba Aki (台場 あき)
      High school year 1 student. She adores Nina and imitates Nina's appearance and mannerism.
  • Elite Butai (エリート部隊)
    • Nakajima Saki (中島 早貴) of (℃-ute) as Komaba Satoko (駒場 聡子)
      She is a student in the Advance Class and Inner Circle of the school which is divided by a yellow-line boundary that indicates "elite area". One of the top 3 students of the Elites and Leader of the Elite Butai. She wishes to over take the school and get rid of the Outer Circle. Both her parents are university professors and her older brother is studying in Harvard University.
    • Okai Chisato (岡井 千聖) of (℃-ute) as Mita Tomoko (三田 智子)
      She is a student in the Advance Class and Inner Circle and also one of the top 3 student of the Elites.
    • Hagiwara Mai (萩原 舞) of (℃-ute) as Yotsuya Yuuko (四谷 優子)
      She is a student in the Advance Class and Inner Circle and also one of the top 3 student of the Elites.
  • Shibuya Maimi's Love (渋谷真実の恋)

      A under study teacher attached to class 2-A.

      A transfer student with a princess-like personality and is very selfish. She changes the rules of the school the moment she arrives without permission and increases her number of friends with bribes. She is the daughter of the president of the "Shirokane Corporation".
