/w/ vs. /ɥ/

[edit]

The Organized Phonology Data source from SIL uses /w/ but says "voiced labial-palatal approximant." I'm wondering if palatal is a typo, especially since "Initial /wu/ reduces to /u/ following a vowel." However, "There is a distinct difference in pronunciation."
