.la Takings by Los Angeles?[edit]

That's not right. All countries should have their own independant ccTLD. Having one city, over take a country's ccTLD is absurd.

According to the article, its intended use was for Laos-specific websites, however, the company administering the .la domain also allows other websites to register a .la domain. Since "LA" is a common abbreviation for Los Angeles, some Los Angeles-based websites are using a .la URL. Having said that, it doesn't seem to have really caught on. So Los Angeles is not "taking over" the .la domain at all - it still means, originally, a website connected to Laos. .LA administration was handed over to CentralNic. .LA admin is now promoting it as Los Angeles only domain.

Laos launches campaign to reclaim .LA from Los Angeles[edit]

Laos has launched a campaign to claim back association of .LA domain name from Los Angeles back to its country.

That article doesn't seem to mention los angeles taking control over the domain, it talkes about Laos taking control of it. It was also from over a year ago. Please provide independent reliable references for your claims, as I can not find any on google. Also see the descussion in the section above ".la Takings by Los Angeles?" where QuantumEleven states "So Los Angeles is not "taking over" the .la domain at all - it still means, originally, a website connected to Laos."

If you want to make a separate article for the domains use in Los Angeles, then that's fine, but this article should remain about laos, as the country is still using the domain.

Ben Crawford: You're right that CentralNic has been an innovator for sixteen years. Starting from an initial insight that domains ending .uk.com are a viable alternative to domains ending .co.uk, we have built a portfolio of 27 geographic domain extensions, such as .US.COM, .EU.COM for Europe and .CN.COM for China, as well as .LA for Los Angeles. We expect our domain extensions to stand their ground against the new TLDs. In many cases our extensions are simply better than the proposed alternatives. the toki pona community's use of .la[edit]

the toki pona community uses the .la domain for sites like pona.la, mun.la, linku.la etc because la is a word in toki pona
i feel like this should be included in the article in some way
