Last woman race decided for Nancy Greene[edit]

The slalom in Jackson Hole in March 26th, the last race of the season, was decicive: Nancy Greene won (being 0.07 of a second faster than Marielle Goitschel); ulltimately she had a margin of 4 points. 213.225.10.48 (talk) 16:44, 28 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Start on January 5th, 1967[edit]

When the World Cup started nobody did know how all would come in progress, may be it would go wrong. Such a formula wasn't given before. maybe Team Officials or media representatives did mistrust. I dont't know about " Live Television Broadcasting " of the initial race and the following races, but I know that the Austrian TV broadcaster ORF didn't broadcast. In the later years, the ORF (and maybe Swiss television broadcasting SRG) did live broadcast if there the host TV station did provide as an offer. Maybe, in a few cases there technological possibilities were insufficient (but ORF or SRG, maybe others like German's ARD or Italians RAI, did spare no effort to broadcast a report in the later afternoon). Live broadcasting from Alpine Skiing World Cup races outside from Europe didn't occur. - First beginnings were in the later 1980ies when there were races held in New Zealand and Australia in August (and Swiss and Austrian television audience could see it in the early morning). Maybe, since 1994, there live broadcasting from Canada, the U.S.A., Japan and South Korea did start. It is a little peculiar that first Word Cup season was dominated by the French team (never mind that Nancy Greene was able to argue and to win the Overall Title). It could be that dominance of the French was an aftermath of its excellent performance in the FIS Alpine Skiing World Championships 1966? Maybe, the new formula was seriously undervalued by the Austrian Ski Federation (being the most important Ski Federation for long time). I don't know about Swiss or German team very much; the only reason for sporting prowess of Swiss Ski Racers maybe found that they couldn't achieve medals in the big challenges (World Championships 1962 and 1966, and Alpine Skiing Events in the 1964 Winter Olympics) in the recent four years.
