Trulli: DNF or 17?[edit]

Jarno Trulli didn't finish the race, but according to official sources [1], he classified 17th. What to believe – 17th or DNF? Fred Bradstadt 14:25, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

He's classified 17th, because he completed more then 90% of the leader's laps. "Cars having covered less than 90% of the number of laps covered by the winner (rounded down to the nearest whole number of laps), will not be classified." - 2006 Sporting Regulations - Article 159 Manipe 15:05, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
Doesn't that rule just mean that "too slow cars aren't classified"? It doesn't neccessarily mean that "cars covering at least 90% of the laps are automatically classified"... Don't get me wrong - I, too, think that Trulli finished 17th, but I cannot find the rule in the Sporting Regulations that supports my opinion... Fred Bradstadt 15:31, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
The above rule supports it. Only cars which have NOT covered 90% will NOT be classified, ie. cars covering 90% (or more) WILL be classified no matter what (Unless they are subsequently disqualified, which they are then taking from the result altogether). It's spelling it out black and white for you, imo. Manipe 22:05, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
Well, that's one ways to read the rule. But since it seems that both FIA and Formula1.com agree, I'm caving in. Toyota F1, though, says Trulli DNF... Fred Bradstadt 06:34, 31 May 2006 (UTC)
DNF is different to classification/Retired. DNF means he didn't reach the chequered flag, but not being classified or having a Ret beside your name means you didn't complete 90% of the laps. Manipe 15:00, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

Material cleared out from JPM's article[edit]

I've deleted this from Montoya's article, because it's too detailed and reads more like a full on race report. If anyone's going to produce a race summary at any point, it could be used.:

"In this 78 lap race, Montoya was running fourth behind Alonso, Kimi and Webber for 50 laps from start. But at the start of 50th lap Webber and Kimi's engine burst into fire and Montoya climbed up to 2nd place in race. He was not close to Alonso to challenge him for win, he was 14-15 seconds behind the race leader. Montoya helped McLaren to get 8 valuable points for constructor's championship." 4u1e

Firstly, too POV. Secondly, poor writing. NSLE (T+C) at 12:18 UTC (2006-06-08)
I'm inclined to agree - I'm not attached to it. I just try to find some way of using stuff that I chop out of articles. This was the best I could think of for this bit! 4u1e

Schumacher Q3 time[edit]

Should this be included? My understanding is that his times were deleted, so should they stand here? 4u1e 16:47, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

Friday Drivers[edit]

There is no Friday Drivers column. From reading the article, I think there were friday drivers, so could someone put it in? Cadan ap Tomos (talk) 15:49, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

Confusion[edit]

The results table states that Nick Heidfeld finished in 7th place thus earning one point. The picture on the right hand side of him, however, says he finished eighth and recieved one point. Which is the case? Cadan ap Tomos (talk) 15:53, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

He finished seventh, thereby scoring two points. I've fixed the image caption. Nice pickup. DH85868993 (talk) 02:54, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
