Qualifying[edit]

Would it be better to bold the fastest time for each driver in the table? Mjroots (talk) 13:36, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If all three sessions counted, yes it would. But they don't so that would make it confusing. --Falcadore (talk) 14:16, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No no no, don't do that! By bolding the fastest lap you give the impression the bolded time is the one the makes up the grid positions, when obviously it's not. You'll have to revert. --Falcadore (talk) 14:23, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
All three sessions do count! If a driver sets a tine in 1st session and track conditions deteriorate the the fastest time would still count. The reason I bolded the fastest times for each driver was to make it easier to see where the fastest time was set. I suppose italics would be a non-starter too> Mjroots (talk) 20:00, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think you need to read this. It disagrees with you. It's on the official F1 site, so I agree with them. Bolding should only be used in examples where there is potential for confusion over which time is used to set the grid, when each qualifying session counts equally. In Formula 1 the times set in each session are discarded as the drivers progress through each session. A session two time will not supersede a session three time if it is quicker. --Falcadore (talk) 22:47, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

129.180.1.214[edit]

Why isn't that editor banned already, it's had more warnings than Hillary Clinton. --Falcadore (talk) 00:19, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It was actually a communal computer; I did it from the college computer room. After seeing your message - and some of the vandalism that had been done form that computer - I registered this account, so you'll know I'm not the one doing things. For the record, the qualifying wasn't in NPOV - case in points this: "The main players were the McLaren-Mercedeses of Hamilton and Kovalainen and the Ferrari of the Felipe Massa. Hamilton took the pole, but only just!" - and I was fixing it up. You just happened to come along when I was in the procss of re-writing it.Nearly famous writer (talk) 01:44, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Are we on track for some kind of local record for DNFs? Comradeash (talk) 06:22, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"nine cars finishing the race"[edit]

The introduction says only nine cars finished. By my count, only seven cars finished the race: the top six, plus Barrichello. Raikkonen and Bourdais got points simply for being the last drivers to retire. Pburka (talk) 19:56, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Slightly more than that, Bourdais and Raikkonen only got points because they finished within 90% of race distance. If Raikkonen had retired a lap earlier he would not have gotten that point. Not sure how that affects whether he gets a grid penalty at Malaysia for the engine change he will undoubtedly need. --Falcadore (talk) 20:36, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Adrian Sutil[edit]

What's happened on Sutil? Why he is demoted to the 22th at the race? Raymond Giggs 11:14, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

He started from the pit lane - LinczoneTalk/Watch 22:52, 20 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Webber & Button[edit]

The race table shows these two drivers as having completed 1 lap, but the official results have them both at +58 laps - i.e. no laps completed. Mjroots (talk) 10:37, 18 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Amended to show result as per FIA website. Mjroots (talk) 16:19, 18 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
An IP user changed them to 1 lap each. I've changed it back again, and added a ref from the official FIA web page showing the results. Mjroots (talk) 07:07, 20 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Support categories[edit]

There used to be a 'See also' link to an article on a support category event (2008 V8 Supercars Manufacturers Challenge) on this race program, there have been far too many minor edits to sort through and find the individual edit that saw it deleted - is a link to support category events, like GP2 races for example, considered inappropriate? --Falcadore (talk) 02:59, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I suppose if you define the grand prix as the whole event rather than just the F1 bits.... support races would be a nice addition. -mattbuck (Talk) 11:40, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Importance[edit]

I've dropped the page to mid importance (see here), to conform with the Belgian one. Apterygial (talk) 10:22, 27 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Lewis Hamilton image[edit]

Lewis Hamilton, who took pole position in his McLaren car

This is not lewis hamilton, so I removed it 82.46.49.45 (talk) 10:17, 26 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not so sure. Looking at the original set of photos of Flikr that this one came from, I'd say it probably is him. 121.45.0.220 (talk) 01:33, 30 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
If it is him, then it is such a poor photo and the colours are so wrong that it is not worth using. In the other photos he is wearing a white shirt and that is clearly not his natural skin colour in the one with the blue shirt. Timb0h (talk) 18:15, 31 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
