  • It's does indeed say that in pretty much black and white - although it contradict what the OFC said just last week. Weird. Note also that the main page that links to the document also says something different - so who knows! Jlsa 06:40, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
    • I cannot find anything on the OFC website regarding the qualification structure. The FIFA "Qualifiers" page does not mention a third round, but it also no longer says the winner of round 2 will go on to play the AFC. I think it is appropriate to assume the PDF file is correct. There will be a home and away knockout between the winner and runner-up of the OFC Nations Cup. Altordwm 14:22, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
      • Look harder. The ONC Stage Two main page notes that the winner of Stage Two (the groups) plays an Asian side "The winners of Stage Two also qualify for a Stage Three home and away playoff against the 5th place side in Asia".       Well since you want to be precise I've amended my comment, but I was just pointing out England (and the other parts of the UK for that matter) as another obvious non-nation that have qualified for the World Cup. - MTC 08:57, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
      • To be exact however, while England etc are not nations, they still compete as nations (and are referred to as such in this context). However, the initial comment obviously meant to exclude these countries - late comers as they were to the World Cup (trailing the NEI into the finals).Jlsa 12:27, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
        • Actually, England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales are Constituent country. In this specific case, they are countries within a larger country. I know this doesn't make sense in plain english. But by definition of the term, it does. 76.71.7.137 (talk) 04:09, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The issue is how to do it? If we count the South-Pac games, do matches against ineligible Tuvalu count - I'd say yes, because losing to them would affect other teams' chance of qualifying. However, this highlights the fact that to do so would probably fall under "original research" (I avoid referring to policies in the form WP:OR without spelling out the full name) Blackjack4124 (talk) 07:12, 25 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
