Not current season, redirected[edit]

The current consensus is that college schedules for seasons beyond the 2009 season do not presently warrant their own articles, per discussion here and here. The only verifiable information represented on the page was the schedule, which has been added to the main page.

The addition of the projected roster that includes current high school seniors who have not signed their letters of intent (LOI) and enrolled in school at Nebraska violates WP:CRYSTAL. First of all, these guys are free to withdraw their commitment until they sign the LOI. Second of all, even if they sign, they must meet academic requirements. Many high school players who sign with Division 1 schools end up in junior college due to grade issues. Thus, an individual who has not signed an LOI cannot be assumed to be a member of a football team at a school they don't attend.

The addition of the coaching staff is also highly speculative in nature, and probably should not be included until at least after the 2009 season. You take the roster and the coaching staff out of the article, and this article is nothing more than a football schedule, which does not warrant its own article. Thus, for the time being, and per the current consensus, the page should be redirected to the main page until more verifiable information can be added. References[edit]

Just a thought, but in order to maintain a neutral point of view it might be a good idea to start including some of the opponent's local coverage into the game day summary references and not from strictly a Nebraska Cornhusker websites. There are plenty of links of this variety to be found on the corresponding game day pages at Huskerpedia.com. Barkeep Chat | $ 15:39, 20 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Starters[edit]

I would like to again revert changes to the denoted starters for the 2010 Nebraska football team, as some of those whose names have been highlighted as "starters" are not actually identified as such by the team's official depth chart, most recently updated November 2. I believe that the definition of "starter" should be based on the official roster's designation of such, and not only on who happened to play the first snaps of a game. A one-week tryout of a player to start a game does not automatically make them a "starter" in the eyes of the staff. Wanted to discuss instead of reverting again. Thoughts? I have some issues with using this depth chart as the determinant of who is to be listed as a starter. As an example, Zac Lee has yet to start a game, but we list him as a starter anyway because he is simply on the depth chart. On the other hand, Courtney Osborne, who has started and had significant on field contributions for the last two games, shouldn't be listed as a starter because he is not listed on the depth chart? Additionally, the November 2 depth chart listed Dennard as the top right CB, yet he wasn't expected to play for the upcoming game. It would seem more appropriate, in my view, for the starter list to be determined by the game participation list (see here - page 7 for the Iowa State game) put out after the game by the university, and not the depth chart - which may not see any changes week to week and is put out days before the game takes place.
I don't think it should be an automatic thing though, some judgment should be used. For instance, on senior day, I would not go and automatically list the seniors who are ceremoniously named starters. However, given Bo Pelini and his staff's philosophy on naming the best player as the starter on a week to week basis, regardless of the amount of playing time, I think if they start they're a starter and should be listed as such. Rather good argument. Fjbfour (talk) 00:40, 10 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
