I don't know if the article should be or not listed as part of the Transportation in BAires. Truth is that its a main artery, though wich cars circulate (hence transportation) -Mariano(t/c) 16:56, 22 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about taking it off like that... you have a good point but it does look strange. How 'bout a new one: Streets of Buenos Aires?
Not enough material for a category (I don't think we'll ever have more than 3 or 4 avenues) Mariano(t/c) 06:22, 27 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Picture[edit]

WOW... thats a beautiful picture !!! --Zzzzzzus 13:55, 26 September 2005 (UTC)zzzzzzus But the most distant parts are too much darkened by clouds. Confusing those parts of Buenos Aires.--200.126.134.131 15:50, 26 September 2005 (UTC)zzzzzzus[reply]

Nota de CLARIN[edit]

Check data from here →→→ [1]

  1. Founded in 1937 (October 12) with a width 140 meters. 70 more than the Champs Elysees, of Paris.
This is interesting
  1. The project began in 1895: an avenue from the north to south of Buenos Aires.
  2. The first icon of the Avenue 9 of Julio (still before this existed), was the Obelisco (Obelisk). Built in 1936.
  3. In 1937, president Agustín P. Justo inaugurated the avenue with its definitive width of 140 meters.
  4. Then, the 9 of Julio grew in parts. In the 60s was extended from the avenues Independence to Santa Fe. Between 1975 and 1980, the remaining layout was summed up between the avenues Caseros and Liberator.
  5. In 2005, was taken out a rail of each hand to make a boulevard, eight meters wide, between the avenues Belgrano and Córdoba. --Zzzzzzus 13:36, 27 September 2005 (UTC)zzzzzzus[reply]

Rivadavia AVENUE[edit]

They have been faster than Me, in creating the article about 9deJulio Avenue. But he is tempting to do one of the Rivadavia Avenue. Being so long, also.

Although in Internet there isnt data. It will be necessary to go to some library (here in Buenos Aires). To look for it in Todo es historia. I guess.--Zzzzzzus 13:47, 27 September 2005 (UTC)zzzzzzus[reply]

My edition of 27Sep05[edit]

There are a few mistakes left and some wikification. Go tigers.

Also, look at this: Map... not Google yet, but getting there. If someone could find a way to open the map in the correct position & zoom... elpincha 05:35, 27 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Flash map, no direct links. :( Mariano(t/c) 06:22, 27 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

France refused to move the embassy building...[edit]

Unfortunate language here... some buildings just cannot be moved... the correct word would be "demolished" or maybe "demolished, and the embassy relocated to etc.". elpincha 16:07, 9 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

2005 Guiness World Records book states that the largest avenue of the world is "Monumental Axis", in Brasília, Brazil. I live in Brasília, but also know Buenos Aires. I think that 9 Julho Avenue has a larger car lane section. Monumental Axis, however, has a very large garden midsection, that can be considered part of the avenue. Guiness book says that Monumental Axis is 250 mts broad. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.6.74.43 (talk) 14:19, 7 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Adding mention of Metrobus (BRT) corridor[edit]

Any objections to adding a quick line in the second para on the Metrobus (BRT, inaugurated July 2013) corridor which now runs through the centre of the 9 de Julio (17 stations, 3km in length)? I also have a recent aerial pic which shows the 9 de Julio as it looks today. Pandywoo (talk) 21:51, 15 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Assuming no objections, so added a line in the intro. Pandywoo (talk) 21:55, 22 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Somewhat crucial detail missing[edit]

How can it be that this article, about the widest avenue in the world, doesn't once mention how wide it is? 222.154.25.7 (talk) 09:30, 24 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

9 de Julio AvenueAvenida 9 de Julio – This article title seems to have a mix of Spanish and English. Either it should be moved to Avenida 9 de Julio, or July 9 Avenue. I think the Spanish name would be better, but am open to July 9 Avenue. Natg 19 (talk) 02:47, 14 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment – are there any other examples of foreign language streets and avenues being translated like that? I'm referring to the option of "July 9 Avenue". —El Millo (talk) 03:07, 14 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Not too sure, but the article lede does call the street "July 9 Avenue", so that is why I was also considering this option. Natg 19 (talk) 17:33, 14 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Move to July 9 Avenue per WP:USEENGLISH. However, as English itself also observing DMY format, 9 July Avenue also can be used. 125.167.56.79 (talk) 00:32, 15 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Avenida 9 de Julio, the original street name is what it should be. Why rename or anglicize streets from other languages/cultures? -- Alexf(talk) 02:09, 15 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Avenida 9 de Julio. Doesn't generally seem to be translated into English. We don't translate foreign names for the sake of it. -- Necrothesp (talk) 14:40, 15 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support move to Avenida 9 de Julio per Necrothesp. —El Millo (talk) 03:29, 17 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
