AWA MicroElectronics[edit]

I worked in AWA MicroElectronics at Rydlemere from 1985 so I'm pretty sure that it wasn't formed "in 1987" as the article currently states - in fact it had been going for a very long time already - from memory the running joke was that AWAM started in the same year as Intel. It could be that AWAM became a separate company when the foundry in Homebush was opened, however the 1987 date is either wrong or misleading...Arthur (talk) 12:22, 3 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"In 1984 AWA acquired Electrical Equipment Ltd, a major manufacturer of power transmission equipment and the AWA group had a combined staff of over 10,000." What happened to EEL? AWL and AWCL - separate page[edit]

G'day Guys. I am mostly working on developing History of broadcasting in Australia, I have just completed a section on the early 1910s coastal station AAA at the Australia Hotel owned and operated by AWL/AWCL which has been poorly documented previously but throughly addressed in Trove digitized newspapers. Will shortly commence work on the POS/VIS and POP/VIP coastal stations. At this stage, it seems to me that while AWA was a merger of AWCL and Marconi interests, the advent of WW1 quickly made the Marconi interests the overwhelmingly dominant partner, due to the former's enemy ties. I have launched a separate Wikipage Australasian Wireless to more thoroughly address AWL/AWCL/Hotel Australia/POS/VIS/POP/VIP. Trust the majority of interested parties here agree. It would always be possible to fold the new page back into the AWA page, but the AWA page as it presently stands would then be quite imbalanced. AWA Wikipage - importance low[edit]

Just a brief comment. I see that Wikiproject Australia has rated this article as of "low-importance". AWA and Fisk dominated Australia's radiocommunications and broadcasting industry for at least four decades.
