Subspecies of African Gray Parrots[edit]

The Congo African Gray Parrot is a subspecies of African Gray, as well as the Timneh. They are the same species, and the information should apply to them both. This makes nearly the entire article wrong, starting from where it says that the African Gray is the same thing as the Congo African Gray. Clearly, the person who wrote it does not know what they were writing about. I see no link to Alex, probably the most famous of all African Grays. 173.66.171.50 (talk) 13:35, 20 December 2014 (UTC) Soon to make an account

A (fairly) recent Birdlife International ruling split the Congo and Timneh Greys into separate species. This is also supported by the IOC World Bird List. Officially they're called the 'Grey Parrot' and 'Timneh Parrot' now, though I still use 'Congo African Grey Parrot' and 'Timneh African Grey Parrot'... --Kurt Shaped Box (talk) 23:16, 20 December 2014 (UTC)
Also, you might like to take a look at Psittacus. Most of the information which could pertain to both species was retained there when the changes were made. It's a much longer article. --Kurt Shaped Box (talk) 23:22, 20 December 2014 (UTC)
