The article says this is autobiographical. Indeed, the book is written completely in the fFirst person, with the main character being a globally recognized author who is named Paulo -- among other parallels to the author. However, the story does include some elements which are unlikely to be completely and literally true (such as the existence of The Aleph, fFor example).
