Bio: (Edited with some newer information and made more concise)

Alexander L. Wolf serves as Dean of the Jack Baskin School of Engineering and is a Distinguished Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of California, Santa Cruz (US). His research interests span the areas of software engineering, distributed systems, and computer networking. He is credited, along with his many collaborators, with introducing the modern study of software architecture, content-based publish/subscribe messaging, content-based networking, automated process discovery, and the software deployment lifecycle. Wolf has served as a consultant and advisor to universities, tech companies, and a number of science and technology institutions in Europe. His research areas include cloud computing, data-center networking, and service-based systems hosted on MANETs.

Wolf has held several leadership positions with the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). He served as ACM president and chaired the Executive Committee (EC) of the ACM Council, which is the governing authority of the association. He was also a founding member of the ACM Europe Council and was a long-time participant in the ACM Distinguished Speakers Program (DSP).

Wolf also held the roles of ACM Vice President, Secretary-Treasurer, Chair of the Special Interest Group (SIG) Governing Board, and Chair of SIGSOFT, the special interest group in software engineering. He served on the editorial boards of the Research Highlights section of ACM's flagship publication Communications of the ACM (CACM), the ACM journal Transactions on Software Engineering and Methodology (TOSEM), the IEEE Computer Society journal Transactions on Software Engineering (TSE), and the Wiley journal Software Process - Improvement and Practice (SPIP), and has chaired a number of international program committees.

For his research and service, Wolf has been awarded numerous honors, including elevation to ACM Fellow, IEEE Fellow, AAAS Fellow, and BCS Chartered Fellow. He is the holder of a Royal Society-Wolfson Research Merit Award, a two-time recipient of an ACM SIGSOFT Research Impact Award, a recipient of both the ACM SIGSOFT Outstanding Research Award and Distinguished Service Award, and a recipient of an Alumni Award for Outstanding Achievement in Research from the Department of Computer Science at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Life and Career (edited for better flow and consistency):

Wolf was born in New York City, NY to Viennese Austrian immigrant parents. He graduated in 1974 from Stuyvesant High School, a public high school specializing in mathematics and science. He then went on to receive a B.A. degree in both geology and computer science at Queens College, City University of New York in 1979.

From 1979 to 1985, he studied computer science at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, receiving both his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees. After graduating, he remained at the University of Massachusetts Amherst for two years as a visiting assistant professor and research scientist working on the Arcadia Project, which focused on laying the technical and theoretical foundations for tool-rich, geographically distributed software development environments.

In 1987, Wolf joined AT&T Bell Laboratories in Murray Hill, New Jersey as a member of the technical staff, where he conducted seminal research in the areas of object databases, software process, and software architecture.

Wolf joined the Department of Computer Science at the University of Colorado Boulder in 1992. While there, he held the ranks of assistant, associate, and full professor, and also held the Charles V. Schelke Endowed Chair in the College of Engineering.

Wolf helped found the Faculty of Informatics at the University of Lugano, the first such faculty in the Italian-speaking region of Switzerland, and later served as a professor in the Department of Computing at Imperial College London. Since 2016, Wolf has led the Baskin School of Engineering at the University of California, Santa Cruz as dean.

Also, the photos have been removed but those are copyright of the UC Santa Cruz Baskin School of Engineering, Alexander Wolf's place of employment. Please put them back up. 2601:1C0:5901:4240:D002:66BA:3A5F:B3E1 (talk) 21:39, 18 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Can you please make these changes? This is a very urgent request. 2601:1C0:5901:4240:C5B:FCF8:D61:C629 (talk) 23:48, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

A few responses:
  • The opening section is not "bio", it should be the WP:LEAD, which is a summary of the whole article. Therefore there should be no information in this section that is not already referenced within the rest of the article.
  • Your proposed changes do not read as "better flow and consistency" but as edging more towards a promotional/resume like tone than the formal encyclopedic tone that should be used here. One example of this (there are numerous others) is For his research and service, Wolf has been awarded numerous honors, including elevation to ACM Fellow, IEEE Fellow, AAAS Fellow, and BCS Chartered Fellow. which adds a vague unsourced resume like statement "numerous honours" and the non neutral description "elevated".
  • The photos that have been removed were removed because the correct copyright information was not provided. That would need to be done properly by the person/organisation who owns the copyright, not just by an anonoymous IP request on the talk page like this
  • Finally, why do you say is this a "very urgent" request? It is not urgent from wikipedia's perspective (WP:THEREISNODEADLINE) so I can only assume it is for your own promotional purposes, which we are not interested in.
