I suggest this topic might usefully be integrated into Western Sahara and this page mad a redirect to that new section? The UN and western Sahara#Baker Plan described there would then make better sense, and also be easier to maintain perhaps?Timpo (talk) 11:01, 24 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

removing and reformulating article[edit]

This article must be deeply reformulated for multiple reasons, 1- it contains false informations, 2- it's a kind of Algerian propaganda 3- it'ignore the moroccan point of view 4- many major events are not mentioned

4.1/ Major event ignored in article = War of sands (1963) When morocco and Algeria gets their independence, the issue was not western sahara but territories of Bechar and Tindouf (called eastern sahara by morocco), which have been claimed by morocco for their moroccan history, and for ties between moroccan king and tribes from those regions, but were annexed by France to it's colony Algeria in 1903 & 1934. After France withdraw from territory in 1962, Algeria refused to restore those 2 territories to morocco, the war of sands began when Algeria attacked "ich" which is a moroccan post control near Oujda. The war finished after african union's mediation, the borders between the two countries returned to statut quo before the war.

2/ Algeria has never backed Morocco to recover a land, in the conflict of Persil Island, all arabs countries supported morocco except Algeria.

3/ in 1975, Algeria supported the creation of an independent state in western sahara, not self determination of western sahara people. Algeria recongnized RASD in spite of that no referendum has taken place until now.
