Quotes vs. paraphrasing[edit]

Hi .. I just created this article. I would appreciate any suggestions on the layout: as you might notice, the article is heavy on quotes from the book. In my first draft of the article, I had very few quotes, and summarized the book in my own words. But I changed it to the current quote-heavy style for two reasons:

1) The book's author is pretty darn readable, and I found that his own words were more focused and interesting than the paraphrasings I created.

and

2) The role of Jews in Hollywood is a bit controversial because it has been used as fodder for a lot of anti-semitic diatribes (as pointed out in this book and elsewhere). If an editor uses their own words in this article, it could give the appearance that the editor endorses the points or is somehow endorsing anti-semitism. By using Gabler's own words (he is a notable film critic) it makes the article more neutral and less prone to abuse.

Let me know if you have any thoughts or suggestions. --Noleander (talk) 23:12, 25 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This book has many references in Google Scholar. [1] Most of them, unfortunately, are behind paywalls. --John Nagle (talk) 16:04, 5 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
