Patronymic[edit]

The role in Journey to the Center of the Earth never stated the full name explicitly. As her (the actress') name (Briem) shows, Icelanders do not solely use patronymic names, but do so in the majority of cases. The name of the actress is a last name as it is widely used in Europe and the US, though. So either leave out what the original author of this line must have considered "last name" or simply use the most likely one which would then be "Hannah Sigurbjörnsdóttir". It can never be "Sigurbjörnsson" either, because that would imply male sex for the bearer of the name. "Ásgeirsson" can't be at all, because that would imply (she is) the son of "Ásgeir" - but we know the name of the father was "Sigurbjörn" in the film. --Assarbad (talk) 01:18, 17 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Just noticed that the end credits give "Hannah Ásgeirsson" as the role name, but since it isn't mentioned anywhere else it makes much more sense to let the erroneous full name out and stick with the first name only. After all, this works for other roles, too. --Assarbad (talk) 02:45, 17 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
