Appropriate redirect?

[edit]

I, and and one editor believe the Anti-abortion]] page and Pro-abortion page should redirect to Abortion debate, because the Pro-life and Pro-choice articles are about much wider topics than abortion. One other editor believes that this page should redirect to Pro-life, despite the fact that the Pro-life article is not just about the abortion issue. Having those pages redirect to Pro-life or Pro-choice conflates the abortion issue with other issues that may not be directly related. Spylab (talk) 00:58, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I do not think that Anti-abortion should redirect to pro-life, pro-life comprises many issues, of which anti-abortion is just one. There are many people who are anti-abortion, but pro death-penalty, for these people anti-abortion is correct, however pro-life is most certainly not. I would also like to add in the most respectful manner possible, that the editor making all the fuss has the reputation for be a trouble-maker/troll and these complaints may be just another way of seeking attention. Prester, if I ask you in a nice and polite, non-confrontational manner, would you mind NOT removing my fucking comments from this talk page?Sennen goroshi (talk) 17:58, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There seems to be a new effort to redirect this page to pro-life which seems inappropriate since there are incoming links linking to this page, not the pro-life page. If you disagree, please discuss, rather than unilateral blanking/vandalism. WikiManOne 20:05, 3 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
This page redirected there until till an anon temporarily made a crude, politicized copy of the article Pro-life and posted it here last week. - Haymaker (talk) 20:55, 3 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I realized that afterwards, I apologize it does appear to be a POV copy of it. WikiManOne 20:56, 3 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
No worries, it took me a while to figure it out too. - Haymaker (talk) 20:59, 3 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Of note a move request has been made at Pro-life. -- Eraserhead1 <talk> 20:57, 3 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect should go to to Abortion debate

[edit]

The topic of pro-life includes a much wider topic than just abortion, opposition to euthanasia etc etc. The abortion debate article focuses on abortion entirely. Therefore this redirect should be made to Abortion debate, similarly as Pro-abortion goes to abortion debate. [1] Discuss. Hobartimus (talk) 18:37, 9 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Except it (the pro-life article) doesn't focus on things other than abortion. WMO 18:39, 9 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
This may be true but this may be a side effect of what's going on with the editing of that page. For example editors there can't agree on content or something like that. Being pro-life means opposition to euthanasia as well for example and many other topics. Hobartimus (talk) 18:05, 10 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Changing the target willy nilly with over 100 inbound links is a really bad idea. Unlike pro-abortion, which has only one inbound link from the mainspace, there are plenty of them for this redirect. --B (talk) 20:33, 13 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
