Merge proposal[edit]

I personally think that this article and the ARFU Asian Rugby Championship article should be merged to create one whole article on the Asian Rugby Championship. As of this year (2015), the Asian Five Nations doesn't exist, and the ARFU has reverted the format back to what it used to be like before 2008, retaking the name ARFU Asian Rugby Championship. Secondly, I don't actually think Asian Five Nations is an appropriate title, as the Asian Five Nations is the tournament of which the top 5 Asian teams compete in. But this article also covers the other divisions. So perhaps a rename of article would be sensible.

Further more. If you look at the The Rugby Championship and Six Nations Championship, article have basically been moved to a new name to mirror the new formats. New articles weren't created when the Tri Nations became The Rugby Championship, or the Five Nations became the Six Nations. Those article has a history section stating how the competition has evolved. An idea we can use for Asia. Rugby.change (talk) 19:16, 5 January 2015 (UTC)

I am OK with the merging of the articles but I do think Asian Five Nations is an appropriate title for the tournaments from 2008 to 2014, as the Asian Five Nations was the name of the tournament. Yes, only the top division had 5 Nations, but we shouldn't lose the official title of the tournament even though most teams played in a four-team tournament. The merged article should reflect that Asian Five Nations existed between 2008 and 2014.
