I saw the "please expand" notice, but don't know much about asymptote, but FWIW I have just modified the link from MetaPost to here to expand on the capabilities of asymptote as I understand them (and that are not mentioned on the article). Most notably are those that interest me

  • higher precision arithmetic (much harder to get arithmetic overflow or underflow)
  • multiple-segment paths (and hence regions other than simply-connected ones)
  • different filling modes -- tiled patterns and Gouraud shading

Someone with some experience with Asymptote could do some productive work here. Andrew Kepert 09:06, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

Category change[edit]

This page is in the category Category:Free TeX software. It seems out of place to me; Category:Free_graphics_software seems more appropriate. Portal:Free_software suggests that nothing should be in multiple of the "free software" categories, so I've simply changed one for the other. J-Deeks 20:36, 9 May 2006 (UTC)

I thinks this article could be more helpful if it describes what distinguishes Asymptote from TikZ/pgf. Knowing only the latter, that's what I was looking for. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 10:01, 8 November 2013 (UTC)
