Can we revert it again? Huh, can we? ;) -- John Owens 11:20 19 May 2003 (UTC)

"Athina was raised by her French father Thierry Roussel..." Shouldn't it be father-in-law? StewartMine 16:53, 20 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Hi! I took the liberty of adding citations to the page and some very factual information. I hope no one will kill me for it! Please let me know what you think if you have time. Also, I propose editing or altogether removing the "External links" because all of them are included in the many citations I added and it just adds unnecessary clutter. --Ashley Rovira 13:11, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

De Miranda[edit]

I'd like to know if anybody can cite any source that states that Athina contracted Doda's family name. This is not mandatory in Brazil, but a personal choice. Dantadd 21:38, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

Actually, on every equestrian site that shows her competing results, she is listed as "Athina Onassis de Miranda". Also the information is stated quite clearly in the Vanity Fair article of May 2005, by Nicholas Gage, where he discusses Athina taking on the Onassis name with plans to combine it with Doda's name. You're right it's not a requirement in Brazil. A lot of people know this. A lot of people are smarter than you imagine, believe it or not. But that's how she wanted it so that is what she did. Deal with it. Wikipedia is the only place that is sadly behind the times and in the dark on her name. But it's not surprising. Wikipedians are often annoyingly stubborn these days. But I don't care. You guys can be wrong as much as you want. It's no skin off my back. I'll say no more about it and just leave it to you to (hopefully) get it right someday. --Ashley Rovira 18:21, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

Yipes! All they did was ask for a source!—Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 21:11, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

Hey, Casiraghitrio|Ashley Rovira, I just asked for a source. Please, refrain from offending me and jumping to conclusions about what I think. Dantadd (talk) 19:44, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
My apologies. I overreacted. I was over-touchy on the subject. Well, in any case, there is an UPDATE regarding Athina's name. Athina has just competed last weekend in a show jumping in Spain. The official site for the competition listed her as "Athina Miranda Onassis". This is a slight change from previous equestrian references which call her "Athina Onassis de Miranda". I just wanted to point that out. Maybe someone knows of a more authoritative reference. --Ashley Rovira (talk) 18:14, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
"Athina Onassis de Miranda" was a legal change after her marriage. She uses this name in her equestrian competitions. Sometimes she is listed as "Athina de Miranda", sometimes "Athina Onassis de Miranda," or "Athina Onassis Miranda".--ACRSM 19:24, 30 October 2009 (UTC)

Move back?[edit]

It says move back to France but from where, Liechtenstein?—Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 02:31, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

I'm not sure what you mean, but Athina went back to Europe to compete in European jumping events after a little time (2004/5) of competing in Brazil and Argentina. She and Doda returned in early 2006 to European competition. It was said they moved back to Belgium. I understand they maintain their Sao Paulo home, though, and still spend a lot of time there. --ACRSM 19:27, 30 October 2009 (UTC)

Unrelated reference[edit]

I changed the reference to the smh given for "O what a wedding...and in Jackie's dress too" by Jeremy Watson which turned out to be at the New Scotsman online. The smh article that turned up when clicked on the original link was this[1] "Big fat dramas erupt on eve of Onassis wedding", in case it's needed. Julia Rossi (talk) 23:08, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

Thank you! I doubt it will be needed, but I guess it's good to leave it just in case. --Ashley Rovira (talk) 04:26, 23 September 2009 (UTC)

I added some sources to the sections on early life & personal fortune, and cleaned up some grammar. Some of the sentences were reworded, but no content was actually altered. I am going to work offline on the rest, from "Legal entanglements" onward, to add sources where necessary and add recent news to her equestrian career. --Ashley Rovira (talk) 01:41, 23 September 2009 (UTC)

Ok, I finished going through the article and tried earnestly to add sources where they were necessary and also improve the grammar and sentence structures. --Ashley Rovira (talk) 04:26, 23 September 2009 (UTC)

Infobox ??[edit]

What happened to the infobox? This page should have an infobox. Maybe a sports related one? --ACRSM 15:55, 28 January 2011 (UTC)

Where did she live in childhood?[edit]

You say 'During Athina's childhood... all expenditures made on her behalf by her father... had to be approved by the Board in advance (which led her father to threaten constantly to move back to Paris, France with the family, where income taxes would cost the estate a "small fortune a year") Move back from where? (talk) 17:11, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

'In November 2012, Onasses de Miranda suffered a spinal injury in a fall from her horse, but was reported to be returning to competition in January 2013.' Did this happen? What is the current state of her career? Valetude (talk) 14:23, 18 November 2013 (UTC)

Athina Onassis RousselAthina Onassis – Athina, heiress of the Onassis fortune and granddaughter of Aristotle Onassis, is most commonly referred to in reliable sources as Athina Onassis and not Athina Onassis Roussel – her mothers surname is Onassis while her fathers surname is Roussel – though her notability stems from being the Onassis heiress. In the past, she was known by her married name of Athina Onassis de Miranda (PeoplePeople) but now that they are divorced, she is using the name of Athina Onassis and is referred to be that name without the surname Roussel (Daily MailPageSixGreek ReporterHello magazine) – per WP:COMMONNAME and WP:NAMECHANGES, this page should be at Athina Onassis. Separation or divorce?[edit]

It states in the article that she's divorced from her husband, but I have never seen any sources confirming that, only that the couple separated after the husband's infidelity affair earlier this year. Separation may be temporary and is not the same as a legal divorce. I think it should be changed to separated until any divorce has taken place in fact, not just in rumors. I'm sure many newspapers would cover such a divorce procedure, and I just haven't seen any of that.--Bemland (talk) 05:16, 21 December 2016 (UTC)

Was it correct?[edit]

Álvaro de Miranda Neto didn't had direct access to the money of Athina Onassis. These money weren't directly accessible. Now he owns absolutely some earnestly earned money. Athina Onassis is simply a human being. Many female human beings exist. It is unfair and unproven that Athina Onassis is the ultimate human being. On the other hand, money have an absolute value. You might say "it's not all about money", and you will be correct. It's also about not being silly as Athina Onassis was. You can have emotions only if your pocket is full. People who have less than a billion dollars are just like hungry Africans, hungry for life (cars, houses, clothes, parties, planes, travels etc.). Read the statistics. Monacans have the longest lifespan. Silly people who lose money try to philosophize their bullshit to you. Intelligent people calculate the actual data. Is it evil for a Sub-Saharan African to fight for a piece of bread? Álvaro de Miranda Neto's bread was life itself. He couldn't stay eternally at the effeminate position of being unable to use directly the money that he would deserved after a divorce. If Álvaro de Miranda Neto then Athina Onassis makes men effeminate. Álvaro de Miranda Neto acted consciously, Athina Onassis acted unwittingly as unintelligent people do! — Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 08:28, 3 November 2017 (UTC)

Was it moral?[edit]

Athina Onassis didn't work to earn her money. Álvaro de Miranda Neto absolutely did, as Athina Onassis' father! — Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 08:32, 3 November 2017 (UTC)
