Merge[edit]

This overlaps a little with Bathonian. Is it the same thing? I know nothing about the topic; I just came across this while doing Encyclopaedia Britannica Eleventh Edition cleanup. It seems likely to me that the current article (verbatim from EB1911) would need to be updated in any case (surely the geological descriptions aren't current?) Bathonian itself doesn't include the detailed history and geography though. I expect it would require a geology geek to take this article's text and update it before merging. I've just come across this article from Bath stone which has some related material and might be significant for any merge.— Rod talk 14:24, 22 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Bath Stone (with or without an upper case 's' for stone) is a particular type of rock from a particular part of the world whereas Bathonian denotes a geological age in use all around the world. I think Bathonian Series could be merged with Bathonian - I do dislike these articles with Encyclopaedia Britannica 1911 material - they are so often so outdated as to be quite misleading. cheers Geopersona (talk) 17:27, 22 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
