"peruvian army" "peruvian surrender" "peruvian troops" (!!) anyone can see Henderson's book (on google books) and he didnt said that, you liar (the person who wrote that) it was an ecuadorian civil War, peruvian Castilla troops returned home on february 19, it can be read in any single ecuadorian or peruvian history book, who wrote that? wikipedia can be use to promulgate historics farses. I can now agree that the Peruvian forces had returned to Lima by the time the battle was fought; I would still like an explanation as to why the Tumbes was in Guayaquil at the time, and able to open fire on Moreno's forces and rescue Franco. AniRaptor2001 (talk) 15:28, 9 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It appears that it is entirely possible that the Tumbes simply happened to be in Guayaquil at the time of Flores' and Moreno's assault; while not directly involved in the combat, it is also possible that the ship opened fire (whether in defense or in a direct attack on the Provisional Government forces), and it is again possible that it was the exact ship that Franco and his men escaped aboard (other neutral ships also participated in rescuing the Guayaquilenians). A source placing the Tumbes in Guayaquil in September would be helpful. AniRaptor2001 (talk) 01:32, 23 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

flag for Juan Jose Flores[edit]

Greetings,

Currently, the flag next to Juan Jose Flores in the infobox is the Venezuelan flag. But since he was the former president of Ecuador and a famous Ecuadorian, shouldn't he have the Ecuadorian flag? Digirami (talk) 21:41, 27 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Curious... that's the flag used in the infobox in the Spanish-language article. I think all members of this conflict would be represented by the white-blue-white, seven star bicolor, would they not? The tricolor was abandoned completely after 1845, and did not appear until immediately after this battle. AniRaptor2001 (talk) 21:57, 27 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Quite true, but Juan Jose Flores at this point in history is an Ecuadorian, not a Venezuelan, and should be represented with an Ecuadorian flag appropriate for the era. Digirami (talk) 22:22, 27 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I've replaced all flags with period ecuadorian flags. It would be nice to have a source that points to what flags were being used by Franco and Garcia Moreno at the time, but that may be difficult. AniRaptor2001 (talk) 22:31, 27 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
We could speculate that the flag is the current flag of Guayas, which is present in Ecuadorian history since it's conception. The "blue-and-white banner" mentioned in the aftermath section could just be that flag. Digirami (talk) 23:06, 27 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

More sources[edit]

Found an additional source that could help the background section. [1] It's in Spanish. Digirami (talk) 23:06, 27 February 2010 (UTC) Here's another good article. AniRaptor2001 (talk) 00:24, 28 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Civil war[edit]

Is this internal conflict the only civil war that has ever been fought in Ecuador? AniRaptor2001 (talk) 07:49, 1 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
