Secret society?[edit]

Really? Is that in reference to the klan? They were the most audacious society in America since the pre-conspiracy-theoristic Freemasons!--207.177.213.62 (talk) 15:45, 1 November 2008 (UTC)

In their early years, their membership was secret; they were considered vigilantes, and they generally hid behind masks and hoods. Historians contrast them with the more open paramilitary organizations of the 1870s in MS and LA, such as the Red Shirts and White League, who curried attention and press coverage.Parkwells (talk) 21:07, 29 September 2010 (UTC)

Delete references[edit]

The list of news references for the "battle" is very long, but few are used as citation sources. It's unnecessary to have so many news articles about the same incident.Parkwells (talk) 21:08, 29 September 2010 (UTC)
