Japanese casualties[edit]

The relevant Australian official history quotes the Historical Section of the U.K. Cabinet Office as estimating a total 15,000 Japanese casualties for the Southern Expeditionary Army in the Philippines, Dutch East Indies, Malaya, Singapore (etc) campaigns during December 1941-April 1942. That suggests about 3,000-4,000 Japanese casualties in the Netherlands East Indies campaign. But no precise source or breakdown by geographical area is provided. Casualty numbers[edit]
