Birthdate, birthplace[edit]

There have been a series of edits by IP editors that repeatedly change the birthdate and birthplace:

  • This edit by 68.88.252.108 established the initial information that the birthplace was Huntsville, Texas and the birthdate was January 19, 1983 (although no source was given).
  • These edits by 76.31.120.53 changed the birthplace to Arlington, Texas and the birthdate to March 1986 (again with no source). This was reverted, although without sources there was no reason to suppose this new information was more correct than the older information.
  • These edits by 209.220.105.131 again changed the birthplace to Arlington, but confusingly changed the birthdate to be either January 19, 1986 or March 23, 1986. I reverted these edits because of the confusion (and lack of sourcing). I asked the editor to contact me if they could provide a reliable source, but I did not get a response.
  • These edits by 76.8.141.226 changed the birthplace to Arlington and the birthdate to March 23, 1986 (again with no sourcing), but in a less confusing manner. This was reverted without explanation.
  • These edits by 99.116.250.14 did the same thing, and they were again reverted.

I note that all of these IP addresses seem to resolve to various places in Texas (including the IP that put in the original Huntsville data), so it could be one or more individuals familiar with Rappaport's life. Without sources, I think it might be best to remove this information completely until proper sourcing can be found. I also remind editors that edit warring is unacceptable, especially over unreferenced information in a biography of a living person. -- Scjessey (talk) 13:12, 20 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I viewed the multiple IP changes without explanation as vandalism, and thus reverting those changes is not intentional edit warring. You're right that it needs to be sourced, but please to not bandy about charges of edit warring. That's unacceptable. - BilCat (talk) 15:48, 20 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
My apologies. My comment about edit warring reflected my suspicion that the IP addresses may in fact have been the same individual, and was not directed toward you. I hope that clarifies things. In addition, I have been told by 209.220.105.131, who claims to work for Rappaport's talent agent, that Rappaport himself asked for Arlington/1986-03-23 in order to correct the article; however, at this time we have no corroborating reliable source to verify these details. I think we are better off leaving this information commented out until we have a reference, but I'd welcome the opinions of other editors. -- Scjessey (talk) 15:52, 20 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The IP's claim is somewhat verified by the fact that the IP address appears to resolve to The Gersh Agency. -- Scjessey (talk) 16:07, 20 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
My apologies for taking it as directed at me. Concur that we need a reliable source. If the agency releases a press statement with his particulars, we might be able to cite that. - BilCat (talk) 16:10, 20 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. There's also a fledgling website for the actor (though I have no idea if it is an "official site", which is why I did not include it when I create the stub in the first place) where some basic biographical information would be appreciated. -- Scjessey (talk) 16:18, 20 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
