Untitled 2016 comment[edit]

Musicthinktank is an industry page about notability requirements for bands and music. Cotton2 (talk) 14:55, 24 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Contested deletion[edit]

I would argue that the band meets notability standards: their works have been reviewed by multiple independent sources, such as the Wall Street Journal, Boston Globe and TeamRock. They have also released an album (Not two yet, though.) on a significant independent record label, Cuneiform Records. The article obviously needs a rewrite to use sources other than their about page, though. --Applathy (talk) 15:56, 24 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • I've declined the speedy, but this also required some thorough cleanup of the article since part of the speedy nomination was also that the page was promotional - which it was. It's considered to be very promotional to tell people where they can purchase the performers' music. Using terms like "prestigious" is also seen as promotional, especially since that tends to be an overused term that marketing people throw at things to sell more product or their clients. Also, the term can be seen as a personal opinion since while some might see Cuneiform Records as prestigious, many others may not, another reason why the term is avoided on here. The entire history section had little WP:PEACOCK terms here and there. Not heavy, but enough to where it became an issue. I also removed a large chunk of content about the band since it was almost completely unsourced, which poses a WP:BLP issue. I don't have a huge problem with some of the content being re-added as long as it's neutrally written and properly sourced. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 09:36, 25 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
