Requested move[edit]

The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: Move. Considering that the shorter disambiguation already redirects here, and there are no other existing articles on songs of this name, this title is best supported by Wikipedia's style guidelines. The base title Best Song Ever will remain where it is. Cúchullain t/c 21:25, 29 July 2013 (UTC)

Best Song Ever (One Direction song)Best Song Ever (song) – Only song called "Best Song Ever". Billboard Man (talk) 14:33, 21 July 2013 (UTC)

I was just coming here to do the same thing. There is no need to differentiate when there is only one. --Shadow (talk) 04:02, 22 July 2013 (UTC)
Best Song Ever already redirects there. This is a different story. --Shadow (talk) 06:48, 22 July 2013 (UTC)
Exactly, this "Best Song Ever (song)" should point to List of songs considered the best --76.65.128.222 (talk) 01:14, 23 July 2013 (UTC)
I think you may have misunderstood. "Best Song Ever" already redirects to that page. "Best Song Ever (song)" does not and doesn't need to because there is actually a song called that. --Shadow (talk) 21:08, 23 July 2013 (UTC)
  • Oppose - Best Song Ever (Katie Armiger song) (new redirect) 2011 only charted at 42 in the country charts but is more likely to be searched by country fans than an Irish boy band song which hasn't even been released yet. In ictu oculi (talk) 09:16, 22 July 2013 (UTC)
Comment - I couldn't care less either way, but One Direction is a Britain-Irish band and this song will certainly be far more searched and chart much higher than a little-known country song. Morhange (talk) 03:18, 23 July 2013 (UTC)
  • Oppose. As another editor said on another RM, "whom does it serve to remove "One Direction from [[Best Song Ever (One Direction song)]]? --Richhoncho (talk) 12:47, 22 July 2013 (UTC)
  • Support. "One Direction song" serves no purpose; no disambiguation is needed. The page should maybe even be located at Best Song Ever.  — Statυs (talk, contribs) 03:20, 23 July 2013 (UTC)
  • Comment I moved the page as soon as I saw it because the redirect at Best Song Ever (song) already existed and there was already a discussion. I felt it should be moved to Best Song Ever. I didn't realise this discussion existed. Apologies. I have moved it back, and turned Best Song Ever into a disambiguation page. –anemoneprojectors– 09:47, 24 July 2013 (UTC)
  • Oppose since there's another song with the same title. –anemoneprojectors– 09:53, 24 July 2013 (UTC)
  • Comment. Wikipedia is full of failed logic. The Rihanna album is located at Talk That Talk, when there's another album and 2 songs of the same name... that have articles. The One Direction song is the only "Best Song Ever" that has an article. But, please, let's continue to do a disservice to the project.  — Statυs (talk, contribs) 18:28, 24 July 2013 (UTC)
The reason there is no consistency is because of the number of fans of a particular act and how vocal they are, none of whom have the slightest intention of thinking "what is best for Wikipedia." In this instance the article is about a One Direction song called Best Song Ever. --Richhoncho (talk) 08:37, 26 July 2013 (UTC)
  • Support – Also, for your information, the Katie Armiger song has no article; just a redirect. 68.44.51.49 (talk) 02:01, 26 July 2013 (UTC)
  • Oppose. Premature at best, this new song may not even chart, while the Katie Armiger song has already charted. Andrewa (talk) 01:44, 29 July 2013 (UTC)
    • Comment – Perhaps these links may change your opinion: [1][2]. 68.44.51.49 (talk) 01:50, 29 July 2013 (UTC)
  • Support per nom. Best Song Ever is as it should be, but with only article about a song of this name, the move should not be controversial. Use an {{other uses}} hatnote. --BDD (talk) 17:15, 29 July 2013 (UTC)

Page move[edit]

I know I opposed the move, but since it was moved, I think it should have been moved to Best Song Ever instead. That is all. I'm not going to request a move, just wanted to give my opinion :-) –anemoneprojectors– 16:14, 31 July 2013 (UTC)

Semi-protected edit request on 25 December 2013[edit]

When it says the name Johnny, it should be Jonny. The source is from the music video, and when it says this character that is played by Louis Tomlinson, it is spelled Jonny, not Johnny. Purikuragurl (talk) 16:13, 25 December 2013 (UTC)

Well spotted!  Fixed, thanks. Adrian J. Hunter(talkcontribs) 02:51, 28 December 2013 (UTC)

– It seems as if no other song called "Best Song Ever" even has an article, and "Give Me Your Hand (Best Song Ever)" isn't even the same name, so I think at this point, "(song)" needs to be dropped from the article name. 2601:8C:4001:DCB9:D048:F3B0:22C3:4EEB (talk) 13:51, 8 July 2017 (UTC)

  • Oppose Despite there is not other song with exactly that title, I think as it is now is OK. Asturkian (talk) 19:32, 8 July 2017 (UTC)
  • Support Seems to be the primary topic - in the last 90 days has had more than 100 times as many page views of Confessions of a Nice Girl, the album containing the other song that matches this title, and 17 times the page views of Give Me Your Hand (Best Song Ever). If it had to be disambiguated, "song" would mean it's primary topic for songs with this title - and there's nothing there that isn't a song so that would make it primary topic. Peter James (talk) 21:20, 8 July 2017 (UTC)
  • Support Clear primary topic. No need for the disambiguation. AusLondonder (talk) 20:00, 9 July 2017 (UTC)
  • Support. No other article uses the title. Station1 (talk) 22:18, 9 July 2017 (UTC)
  • Support per reasons above. 5.148.89.130 (talk) 19:54, 14 July 2017 (UTC)
  • Support. Don't keep the dab page; the other song's ambiguity can be dealt with via a hatnote, and the other two entries are partial title matches and should be removed. —Xezbeth (talk) 10:40, 15 July 2017 (UTC)
  • Comment – I agree with the previous idea. 5.148.89.130 (talk) 17:52, 15 July 2017 (UTC)
