Question in regards to type of article[edit]

Hello All, I've noticed a few places where American English and British English collide, is this page meant to be written in one or the other? I changed a three places where I saw the contradiction from British to American, however I would like to verify these changes. I will be looking for places to add more citations as well. --Salll327 (talk) 15:39, 21 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Lack of citations[edit]

Just stumbled on this which can I think be used as cite notes for much of the content on this page. EdwardLane (talk) 14:46, 18 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Difference between Relative dating and Biostratigraphy[edit]

I'm confused what the difference between these two are. Can someone explain? It seems to cover the same thing. --Harizotoh9 (talk) 12:34, 15 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Judging by the articles it seems biostratigraphy is the favoured (but not only) means of relative dating EdwardLane (talk) 17:23, 15 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Relative dating includes many things other than biostratigraphy, as shown very elegantly in Woudloper's diagram in the relative dating article File:Cross-cutting relations.svg. Basically you can determine the presence of separate sedimentary sequences and intrusive/metamorphic/tectonic events using such observations, but you need biostratigraphy to date the sediments and radiometric dating to put it all in an absolute framework.
