The article does not explain why System.UInt16 is blittable while System.Char is not.

Origin of Blittable[edit]

What is the etymology of the term blittable? Bit blit seems to refer to graphics applications, so Block-transfer instruction seems most likely. —Ost (talk) 15:08, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

If we can confirm this then we should add it to the article. I wanted to know too (which is why I checked talk). RJFJR (talk) 14:57, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
