Hmmm, maybe this should be moved/retitled to "county board of supervisors"? Kestenbaum 02:14, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

  • Ehh? {shrugs} --evrik 13:55, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

I don't care one way or another. However, there are "board(s) of supervisors" for non-county agencies, i.e., the governing bodies of the Louisiana state universities. Calwatch 02:53, 9 May 2006 (UTC)

Sure, but are those really within the scope of this article?
Here in Michigan, the governing boards of the three major state universities, all elected statewide, have three different names (board of regents, board of trustees, board of governors). A lot of private colleges have a "board of visitors". Doesn't Harvard have a "board of overseers"? College/university governance is a whole other world. I presume this article is about local government. Kestenbaum 09:07, 9 May 2006 (UTC)

Okay, retitling done. Kestenbaum 18:47, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

Worldview tag[edit]

As far as I'm aware, only the U.S. has bodies called "county Boards of Supervisors". The situation is different to, say, county councils, which exist in a number of countries. I've therefore removed the {{worldview}} tag. — Lincolnite (talk) 22:15, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

The original tag, which was later redirected (inappropriately, imho), was for generic limited geographic scope, not worldview. I will add a currently existing tag that expresses this. Doctor Whom (talk) 18:38, 25 June 2008 (UTC)
Huh? The article adequately describes boards of supervisors as they exist in the states that actually have them. The "balanced geographical coverage" tag makes no sense.--Coolcaesar (talk) 07:05, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
Okay, no one has answered my question. I'm killing that tag. --Coolcaesar (talk) 08:05, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
