Gerry Ryan said "Gerry Ryan;s Hitlist of Top 20 Irish Televison Shows" on RTE 1 in June 2005 stated over 400 "Bosco"episodes were produced. Does anybody know if this is true?

I guess it is, I added it to the article as Gerry Ryan is authoritative source. It was a daily show and 40 episodes would last only 8 weeks, but it was on tv for 20 years. 400 seems like a reasonable minimum. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:halcyonicity

It was -repeated- for 20 years. There were very few episodes in reality.--217.67.139.104 11:08, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

He didn't wave? T.T

[edit]

There was a story going around that one episode Bosco didn't wave goodbye and a large number of children got really upset over this. Was this true? ---Archeus 11:43, 31 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Don't know if it was true but i heard it too Owwmykneecap 02:17, 9 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This article needs

[edit]

Thought I'd start a list of what's needed on this article, so people (and me) can tick them off as they're completed

  • a list of the adults who particpated - I heard a few years ago that Philip is now dead, anybody got more info?
  • start date, end date, number of episodes -Start was 1978, give or take a year, sorry I can't be more specific. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:halcyonicity
  • a complete list of the mini-inserts they used to have
  • a section on the magic door, they're trips to the zoo and more importantly the much anticpated trips to the Chocolate Factory

Burglary

[edit]

Are we sure that Bosco was stolen? I can find no reference to it on the web that isn't using Wikipedia as its source. What's even more suspicious is that I can't find any of these pictures anywhere. So, does anyone have a source? RMoloney (talk) 10:02, 26 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Yes he was kinappeded from the UCD Student Bar back in 1996 or thereabouts. Bosco was returned unharmed to Donnybook Garda Station. The UCD Tribute ran with the story and it appeared on serval RTE radio shows. ant_ie 17:53, 26 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, thanks. But was there a kidnapping in 2000, anyone? And is it true about the international photos? RMoloney (talk) 18:54, 26 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know about 2000. I understood the photos were just made up. ant_ie 19:02, 26 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
There were photos, however they were quite likely faked - student prank, unlikely to have the cash to bring the puppet around. I may have them here, somewhere, but my stack of "random funny crap from papers" is bloody huge... --Kiand 19:06, 26 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Bosco's favourite toy

[edit]

What is Bosco's favourite toy? Pub quiz question. Safety scissors and crayons

Guests through the Magic Door?

[edit]

When were there guests on Bosco? The zookeeper doesn't count because he wasn't in the studio!--Dub8lad1 22:02, 12 April 2006 (UTC) I don't remember there being adult guests. I believe there were occasionally children who helped with the make and do or whatever they called it. halcyonicity[reply]

Bosco Jokes

[edit]

Third Watch?

[edit]

Yes, I know the Bosco here and the Bosco there are not the same, but should a link be put from this page to the Maurice 'Bosco' Boscorelli page in the disamb section? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 129.12.249.49 (talkcontribs).

Hm. Good question. It's a pain to do, but it might be necessary. Powers T 16:56, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

electric picnic 2005

[edit]

surely his appearance at the second electric picnic music festival at stradbally County Laois in September 2005 should be mentioned, quite a memorable appearance and one of the most important parts of his role as an Irish sub/counter-culture icon.Nick Cave and the Bad seeds, Mercury Rev, LCD soundsystem....BOSCO!!134.226.1.62 00:10, 14 January 2007 (UTC)carrolce[reply]

Bosco On BBC

[edit]

Bosco was on BBC ? That doesn't seem likely at all. It's certainly not on CBeebies on the days claimed in this article. --WaterWolf (talk) 11:25, 18 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Original run

[edit]

They were not making new episodes past the late 80s. To say that its original run lasted till 1998 would imply that they were original broadcasts. They were not. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.60.44.105 (talk) 08:25, 23 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, spotted this and have corrected it as per ref. In production between 1978 and 1987 apparently. It was repeated for the next 10 years, which means each episode must have been shown 8 or 9 times in total.--Tuzapicabit (talk) 03:53, 20 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

1978 or 1979?

[edit]

Wikipedia says it began in 1978. The network says it began in 1979. Or is that a mistake? --Greykit (talk) 01:10, 11 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, this seems to confirm it first aired on 4 June 1979. --Greykit (talk) 01:54, 11 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
