Subject lacks historical significance[edit]

This actress' work lacks historical significance and the page should be removed.Paradise coyote (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 17:20, 22 August 2009 (UTC).

Would you care to support that with something other than your opinion? She was and is well known amongst viewers of adult films.--HillbillyProfane (talk) 01:02, 29 March 2010 (UTC)
Plus her activism on protecting adult film actors' identities, if they choose to work under a stage name. She passes WP:GNG and WP:PORNBIO easily. David in DC (talk) 11:26, 24 February 2011 (UTC)

Too Many Movies[edit]

The guideline says six. I'm not familiar enough with Ms. Alexandre's body of work to pick them. Could somedody with more expertise please pare the most recent edit down. Thanks. David in DC (talk) 11:24, 24 February 2011 (UTC)

Real Name[edit]

There are multiple problems with the "real name" issue here.

First, people are putting hidden comments saying "please respect Ms. Alexandre's wishes" and "she is touchy on this subject". Sorry, but that's irrelevant.

Second and more important, [redacted] filed a public US trademark on the name Brandy Alexandre. She is not hiding her stage name and has no reasonable expectation that Wikipedia should.

I put her name in, with a link to the trademark. There is no reasonable reason to exclude it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.1.210.3 (talk) 19:26, 25 September 2013 (UTC)

There plenty of reasonable reasons. I put one in my edit summary when I reverted your insertion. But here's another: Your link is to a trademark document. That's a primary source. Using it to source this purported name is strictly prohibited original research.
Further, please read the extensive archive for this page. There's important WP history here. Any discussion of inserting this name can only make any kind of sense in light of the history and the painstakingly worked out consensus. Consensus can change. Please feel free to try to change it with policy-based reasoning based on permissable secondary sources. On this talk page. Please do not reinsert the name with a ref to the trademark document. Please do not reinsert the name without first providing a reliable secondary source on this page and achieving consensus here that it should be re-inserted. Thanks. David in DC (talk) 20:26, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
You misunderstand WP:NOR, actually. Linking to a fact is not original research. Please post a link to the relevant WP policy regarding names, otherwise it's meaningless. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.21.184.189 (talk) 02:14, 5 October 2013 (UTC)

Re name: WP:BLPNAME "When the name of a private individual has not been widely disseminated or has been intentionally concealed, such as in certain court cases or occupations, it is often preferable to omit it, especially when doing so does not result in a significant loss of context." [Emphasis added]
Re using the trademark document: WP:BLPPRIMARY - "Exercise extreme caution in using primary sources. Do not use trial transcripts and other court records, or other public documents, to support assertions about a living person. Do not use public records that include personal details, such as date of birth, home value, traffic citations, vehicle registrations, and home or business addresses." [Emphasis taken verbatim from the original.] David in DC (talk) 16:00, 6 October 2013 (UTC)

  • It's also important to keep in mind that the holder of a trademark on a stage name is not necessarily the performer using the stage name. Here, the trademark was claimed only for website use, and could just as easily be an agent of the performer; in addition, since the trademark was applied for years after the performer's reported retirement, it could easily have been claimed by anyone having the right to distribute the relevant footage online. The Disclaimer[edit]

The disclaimer really sounds like a sad fanboy trying to curry favor with a porn star: "As a courtesy while we discuss the issues surrounding this article, please don't add Brandy Alexandre's real name to this article. And please treat SavvyCat with particular respect and understand that if she seems a bit touchy about this article, she has every right to be: it's about her. As a person with a biography about myself in Wikipedia which is frequently used as a place to attack me, I can say that Assume Good Faith is absolutely necessary in a case like this. --Jimbo" — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.22.27.197 (talk) 14:46, 31 July 2014 (UTC)

Fun Fact: That "sad fanboy" is the founder of Wikipedia, and respecting someone protecting their real name is actually right. --SamWinchester000 (talk) 13:09, 14 March 2016 (UTC)
