I hear accounts from a Dutch nuclear physicist that decommissioning of Brennilis is behind schedule, into significant cost overruns, with several fundamental questions about how to go on and make it a green process, unanswered. Basically they are stuck in the mud, while EDF apparently needs a payable decommissioning technology, because they calculated that by exporting this technology, they could make up for their lack of savings for a dozen upcoming reactor decommissionings.

If true, this would have major consequences for French nuclear industry, because conclusion might be, that decommissioning is far more expensive than now assumed. Hence, saving funds, required by new laws to be realistic for future decommissioning, would have to be increased enormously, which would add considerably to the cost of nuclear power, and hence to the appeal it has on investors.

Therefore I would argue to upgrade Brennelis in Wiki-importance. I will try to find documents on this issue, and add them. I hope others with more knowledge and contacts in this industry would do the same.Pieter Felix Smit (talk) 06:02, 13 September 2011 (UTC)

Could do with more on the motivation and design[edit]

Since HWGCR designs are so rare (other one is KS 150) - What were the pro and cons of using HW for moderator with gas for cooling ? - Rod57 (talk) 00:19, 9 April 2015 (UTC)
