NPOV[edit]

This article should be named "Bui Dam controversy" because that is its main subject. I placed a NPOV tag on the article because of this and believe it should remain there until the other information can be added to the article or current information removed/cleaned-up. Stuff like the benefits, specifications, history of construction, etc. are indeed helpful to readers as well.--NortyNort (Holla) 00:30, 23 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article indeed needs a lot of work along the lines you suggest. I just started to read a 2011 report by the German Development Institute about the dam that has a lot of useful information. I integrated some of it, tried to improve the structure, added an infobox, and tried to remove most of the POV while keeping relevant information about environmental and social impacts. The history section can be expanded a bit more, which I can do, and the references also need to be brought into a consistent format using footnotes. Once all that will be done we can hopefully remove the tags for POV and Wikification.--Mschiffler (talk) 21:49, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I think it looks good now and there is no need for either of the tags. Nice job. Do you have a link to that report or is it in German? I can add a lot more about the design if I can get a hold of it. Sinohydro's website is difficult to navigate.--NortyNort (Holla) 12:45, 7 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for helping to further improve the article. The picture and the map make it look much better. I will work a bit more on the history section and provide some context concerning the electricity sector in Ghana. The report is in English, but is not available as a PDF. I will add a link to the summary of the report.--Mschiffler (talk) 15:09, 7 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. It would be good to get some more independent sourcing in there. If I had 6 Euro, I guess I could buy it. I found some good sources on the dam's design and will add more text in shortly. I think we may have a good article on our hands after all of this.--NortyNort (Holla) 02:16, 8 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I think this should be a good one to submit as a good article. I plan to work on the history section over the next days or so, and then I will be done for my part.--Mschiffler (talk) 21:54, 8 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
