Bancorp[edit]

What is a Bancorp? I've noticed it being used in business entity names the same way Corp., Inc., Corporation and so on are used. But without any of those corporate indentifiers. Is a Bancorp something special only used by banks? Or is this just some word that businesses have decided to use on their own? Sounds like an advertising gimmick - no state has created a business form by this name. bd2412 T 03:21, 17 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, except don't these corporations have to use their actually corporate name with the right word, whether it be Corp., Inc., Corporation or Incorporated. I know there they can use a DBA, but the about pages and contact us pages for their websites would have their real corporate name I would think. -- Suso 04:10, 19 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Merging[edit]

I'm suggesting that this page be merged with Companies law. It's part of an overall concept - I think we only need two main pages, one to deal with the main kind of company law, limited liability corporations; and one for that and the other forms of companies discussed on this page. Please see the other comments I've left on the Companies law page, and please leave some advice if you have it! Wikidea 10:44, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
