Expansion[edit]

Anyone have any more information on South Africa or Vietnam? Leefkrust22 (talk) 21:15, 3 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Take a look at Economy of South Africa, it has all the stats that are relevant to this page. Roger (talk) 09:50, 22 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

External links modified[edit]

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to 3 external links on CIVETS. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:

Orphaned references in CIVETS[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of CIVETS's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "GDP":

  • From Colombia: "Cuentas Trimestrales – Producto Interno Bruto (PIB)" (PDF) (in Spanish). dane.gov.co. Retrieved 16 February 2018.
  • From Group of Seven: "Gross domestic product". IMF World Economic Outlook. October 2015. Retrieved 14 October 2015.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 22:23, 14 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Article needs updating[edit]

The information in this article seems to be rather outdated. The status of the named countries as far as their economic situation is concerned has likely changed in the last ten years, which is approximately how many years this article is lacking in data. I have added an Update template for this reason, and I believe the issue should be discussed. werewolf (talk) 09:05, 13 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Reversion - removal of "members"[edit]

Hi @Revirvlkodlaku - you revereted my removal of the members section. Happy to discuss here. The material in this section is WP:SYNTHESIS. Unlike the BRICS, which has an actual organisational structure, there are no "members" of the CIVETS, it is simply a grouping with no coordination amongst those identified in the grouping: "Policy coordination implies agreement of some sort, even if it does not mean that all states agree to implement identical rules. But this is precisely what none of the CIVETS countries has been willing to do." (A comparative study of foreign economic policies: The CIVETS countries (2015:5)). The references used in the members section are almost all exclusively data points about those individual countries, they are not points that have any reference to their status as CIVETS countries. (AFAICS only one reference, for Egypt, is linked to a source discussing CIVETS). Discssuion of the individual countries has to be related to their status as CIVETS countries, it needs to be comparative (or contrasting); the information as it currently stands is just information added by editorial personal choice. Can I add information about apartheid on South Africa? What about the Arab Spring for Egypt? What about the Vietnam War for Vietnam? Etc. The criteria for inclusion of material has to be directly related to a discussion on CIVETS, not any general informaiton about each country. Hi @Goldsztajn, I appreciate the thorough explanation. It makes complete sense to me, so I've gone ahead and restored your edit. Cheers! Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 03:21, 27 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
