Proposed merger[edit]

"Caiman" should be redirected here instead of the subfamily caimaninae because it's a genus, not a subfamily. And remove the stupid part "(genus)" from this title, and insert an s in the end of caiman, because it's not one and species, its more than one caimanS. And don't merge this article to caimaninae, becauce that subfamily even have the genuses Melanosuchos and Paleosuchus.--Buggwiki (talk) 19:33, 7 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think the redirect is treating caiman as a common name for members of the Caimaninae rather than just abusing a generic name. Abyssal (talk) 17:41, 29 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

General information on caimans[edit]

General information pertaining to all caimans really belongs in the "Caiman" article, not this one. There are three living genera of caimans, and this article only covers one of them. WolfmanSF (talk) 21:39, 6 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
