Misc edits[edit]

misc edits: added v1 info, created section for L Series, misc text/grammar changes Ken (talk) 20:22, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

Lens photo[edit]

And since I couldn't find a decent pic of the version 1, and have run into numerous folks who claim it doesn't exist (!), I took a pic of mine and added it. If you have a better one, feel free to replace it.Ken (talk) 03:00, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

Lens chart[edit]

There are eight! versions of the EF 28-80. A lens chart, like on the Canon EF 50mm lens page should be made. Nebrot (talk) 10:59, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

>have at it.Ken (talk) 15:08, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

The columns in the chart need to be rearranged. Would do it but don't know how.....the columns should be in this order: L, USM, USM II, USM III, USM IV, USM V, (original), II. This will arrange the variants in more logical groupings of L>USM>Non-USM. As is the oddball USM is out of place and plunked in the middle of the otherwise-similar lenses. box edit help[edit]

can't figure out how to edit the box ("History"), but the version 1 was made between 1991 and 1995, version II from 1995 to present. add if you wish.Ken (talk) 15:13, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

figured out the start date at least. the end date is in the text, so it will work there.Ken (talk) 03:49, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

Actual performance information[edit]

Truthfully, I don't think this page says very much; production details don't actually describe a lens. If you don't actually have a grip on the facts surrounding a topic, how do you hope to write a valid article? Oh yeah, fancy charts. --John Bessa (talk) 03:24, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

The 28-80mm predates the Internet, for the most part, so we can't fancy it up with reviews like we can with the Canon EF-S 17-55mm lens. hbdragon88 (talk) 04:00, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
well, since most folks think all but the USM and L are junk, we could add that. But then someone would want references and claim it as OR.... The links to the Canon Museum and others give about all the technical details that exist. regurgitating them here is pointless. I have added considerable text in the Description box based on the available refernces, but seriously, there's just not a lot of info to add otherwise. Ken (talk) 13:59, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
