Question[edit]

Why is it Cooks' Cottage instead of Cook's Cottage? Ivar the Boneful (talk) 10:27, 14 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Belated answer - The house was originally promoted in Melbourne as Captain Cook's Cottage. That was what it was known as in my youth, over 60 years ago. Then it became clear that Captain Cook probably never lived there. The house was built for his parents, after he had moved out. So it became the house belonging to the Cooks, or Cooks' Cottage.
