I see that the notability tag has been removed from the article, with the instruction to look at his CV. Not that I think this is wrong, but I did look at his CV before I tagged the article and I couldn't see anything that obviously showed that he passes WP:PROF. However, I might just have missed it. I don't know the field, nor the person, but I think point 6 of WP:PROF ("The person has held a major highest-level elected or appointed academic post at a major academic institution or major academic society.") he has down: he is chair of a department at the Radboud University (as well as full professor in London, and visiting professor in Koblenz). He also has written several textbooks, two of which have been reprinted repeatedly, and one or a combination of the 176 publications he has (co-)authored must have made an impact in the field (point 1). Thanks for the reply - yes, you're right, I agree that he passes WP:PROF based on those points, and sorry for making you type all of that out! It looks like I did indeed miss it. Though I'm not sure about the wording of criterion 6, he definitely passes 4, and very likely 1 (though I'm not certain what kind of citation rates are typical in phonetics).
