Speculation

[edit]

Bentley4: I reverted this edit that said, "If elected she will be Baltimore's third consecutive female mayor", because it hasn't happened yet, so it's dated material that is subject to change in the near future. When she's elected, it will need to be changed to "Pugh is Baltimore's third consecutive female mayor". Until then, it's a non-event, speculation and therefore not encyclopedic. It has been removed for the same reason several times. When was the last time Baltimore had a republican mayor? (Apparently it was in the 60s). So let's hold our horses until after the election. democrat vs democratic party

[edit]

While I don't think there is a MOS guideline for this, most politicians use [[Democratic party (United States)]] (or some variant that may be piped) in their lead or infobox, so I'd say that unless there's an RFC or a change, the working consensus and preference appears to be as it currently is in this article. The last person to make this change also very incorrectly asserted there "is no such thing as the democratic party." You may want to visit Democratic Party (United States). Also changing to Democrat party just results in a redirect and makes the lead sound a bit silly. Praxidicae (talk) 15:01, 3 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Third straight BLACK woman to serve as mayor of Baltimore?

[edit]

... seems noteworthy. Has any other major office in America seen a black woman succeeded by two more black women?

I'm not sure, but if you can find a WP:RS that says she is, then by all means update it. Otherwise, you shouldn't conduct original research and default to the sources, the ones in the article only state that she is the third female mayor in a row. SWL36 (talk) 21:12, 7 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
