Not quite sure how to proceed, but I am just reading the first of the 10 volumes I have - it is the ' new edition' A to Beaufort dated 1904 - so either this edition is missing from your list or the current info is wrong. 188.220.186.57 (talk) 16:54, 11 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
As I understand it, the Chambers Encyclopaedia, known for its accuracy, published a list of Jewish populations in Europe just before the war. Its total was 4.5 million.
